Q. What are "well detailed, ornate-without-being-froufou, and austere, all at the same time" ???

A. The latest design to be added to the Richard Sachs line of lugs, BB's and frame fittings, that's what!

This new lugset, the Nuovo Richie, is finally available following over a year at the design and prototype stage. They join the ornate Newvex and minimalist Richie-issimo lug designs. These sit alongside his two compact and bijoux fork crowns, both of which will perfectly compliment each lug style.

With a set of Sachs dropouts, the RS bottom bracket shell - Richard's personal favourite among his casting designs - and one of his superb front derailleur tabs added to his soon-to-be-finalized lug-specific custom tubeset (more later!), any builder has the base materials to produce a state-of-the-art lugged steel frame.

Details of these and other goodies are now featured in a new addition to his website, his "What's New" page. This is the place for all the latest info on the multitude of Sachs projects, including CYBC/Richard Sachs/RGM/Rex Chiu/Radix cyclocross team news, links to e-Richie blog updates, additions to the range of Sachs Toys and sneek peeks of new projects in the mix.

Definitely one to bookmark!

Did Campagnolo give you permission to use their decal design?

As usual Richard Sachs did a great job and these lugs are super cool. I received a set last week that I'm going to use w/Reynolds 953 to build a frame for NAHBS.

Hey Richie... Nice lugs!!

Do the splines on the points have a purpose? other than aesthetics?

Keep it coming,

The splines would be to create some easy-to-remove cross section that will help the points to fill completely in the mold.

Those ridges would make great alignment guides when setting up or trimming/reshaping.... worthy.gif

Ahhh I see, thanks Martin.

Neil, you took the words out of my mouth... or fingers, whatever... ohyeah.gif

Wish the lugs I'm carving up right now had 'em!

The cast in ridges along the lug points would also help reduce the points "burning" during brazing. A bit more mass slows heating and cooling rates. When I noticed the ridges I thought they were a great idea, but one that the rider might never even know about. "Only your builder knows for sure". Andy S

The little ridges aren't on all the points... So if it's for heating what's special about those points?

they are not heat sinks for brazing;
their purpose serves as a gate for the caster.
