When he’s not building some of the most sought-after frames on the planet - OR - designing state-of-the-art steel tubing - OR - adding to his ever growing inventory of fine frame components, Richard Sachs has a secret passion.

It’s not sponsoring the coolest cyclo-cross team on the circuit; it’s not taking part in the sport he loves; it’s not even sharing his knowledge and expertise with thousands of less-experienced framebuilders on this forum – it’s something else altogether!

Until now, it’s been a little known fact that Richard has built up probably the most extensive collection of New Yorker Magazine covers to feature cycling as a theme.
It’s taken years for Richard to put this collection together; he’s even managed to find some editions that, according to Richard “missed the publisher's radar when sending me a list of covers with bicycles in the artwork”

Some of the references are obvious, like the velodrome scene (left) from 1929 or the Christmas edition of 1942.
Others, like on the June 1929 cover is not so obvious; “the bike(s) is such a small and abstract component, it's lost in the gestalt of it all” says Richard.

Richard has kindly allowed us to feature his collection in a dedicated gallery. Over the next few weeks, the collection will be added to, one or two at a time.

If that wasn't enough, there’s one extra-special treat for forum members. Richard has this to say:

“If you are watching my thread about all the wonderful art that graced the covers of The New Yorker through the years – the ones with, ahem, bicycles in them - then watch very closely, for on Thursday I will add a special one.

Whoever can tell me the reason that this particular issue is special, or unique, or one of the most sought after issues, or is so hard to get, or anything remotely related to this, will get a $100 credit to be applied to any of the in-stock item(s) that are shown on my
