 Well, who would have thunk it?
Last year, one bike immediately grabbed my attention and went on to win a coveted Eurobike Award.
This year, another bike stopped me in my tracks with its striking simplicity, its accomplished design and its understated elegance - much like last years' show-stopper, the Fixie Inc. Five Star.
It featured in our eve-of-show report (see below) and guess what? From literally thousands of roadsters, townies and single-speeds on display, this one impressed the judges so much it has been chosen as Eurobike's 'Best of Show' in the roadster category!
Well done Viva, company founder Lars Andersen and the bikes' designer Hernrik Nørby!
Elsewhere, there's just soooooo much to see.
Not only have you the 'official' eye-candy menu, but also the 'By Invitation' bikes and frames featured on the booths of Columbus, Tune, Lightweight, Brooks and others.
These are the hidden pearls, chosen for their crowd-pulling power by components manufacturers eager to show off their products in the best possible light.
It's an arrangement that works well for the exhibitors by drawing added interest to their booths, as well as being a great way for custom builders to reach a wider audience on a stage that for most, is sadly out of reach.
